Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
honors Latino Heritage Month with annual festival Local performers will pay special tribute to rock and roll icon Ritchie
Valens
CLEVELAND (August 21, 2009) - The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
is pleased to welcome back the Latino Heritage Festival, an annual even that celebrates the rich Hispanic culture and its musical traditions. This colorful event will take place on the Main Stage of the Rock Hall on Sunday, August 30 from Noon to 4 p.m. and features performances by
the best of Latin bands and vocal groups. The festival is a kick-off to Latino Heritage month, celebrated September 15 - October 15 every year. The Latino Heritage Festival is FREE, however paid admission is
necessary to tour the Rock Hall exhibits. The Rock Hall is proud to partner with Newschannel 5 for this event.
The Rock Hall will also pay tribute at the Latino Heritage Festival to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Ritchie Valens, who died 50 years ago with Buddy Holly and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson on their Winter Dance Party tour. In the short 17 years of his life, Ritchie Valens became a rock and roll icon with his renowned songs "La Bamba" and "Donna." As one of the first Latino rockers, Valens has notably influenced such artists as Los Lobos, the Beach Boys and Los Lonely Boys.
In tribute to Latino music and culture, the festival will feature an array of musical talent, including Melissa "Cha~Cha" Figueroa and Justo Saborit, both of whom will provide the flavorful soundtrack to an
afternoon of entertainment. Artists will perform not only their original music but also songs by Valens. Havana, Cuba native Justo Saborit released his third album this year titled Agua y Fuego. The CD represents a fusion of energetic
guitar with blends of Latin rhythms. In addition to his recording career, Saborit also hosts a radio show called Latin Jazz/Latin Soul on Cleveland's 107.3 The Wave, introducing audiences to the international crossover power of Latin music.
Melissa "Cha~Cha" Figueroa was born in Cleveland but she exudes Latin flavor in her pop and R&B hooks. Her debut album, Euphoria, was released on May 22, 2009. She not only wrote all 12 tracks, but she also receives co-production credit on the album as well. Figueroa is a
community activist also, vowing and working to keep adolescents off of
drugs and off of the streets in her hometown.
Also performing at this year's Latino Heritage Festival will be Merenpower Band and Jonathan El Romantico.

HOW TO STEAL 130 MILLION CREDIT CARD NUMBERS WITH EASE!
Gonzalez and the two other men indicted Monday for their role in the thefts of more than 130 million credit and debit card numbers allegedly spun a web of cybercrime and deceit that affected, among other corporate entities, Heartland Payment Systems, Hannaford Bros. and 7-Eleven. And as further details emerge in what U.S. authorities are calling the largest known incident of hacking and malware to extract credit and debit card numbers. The group communicated through instant message and also used sniffers to absorb card data rapidly. The computers they used were based in California, Illinois, New Jersey, Latvia, Ukraine and the Netherlands.
They were also able to stay ahead of corporate cybersecurity, as the indictment description indicates: "They allegedly accessed the corporate websites only through intermediary, or "proxy," computers, thereby disguising their own whereabouts. They also tested their malware by using approximately twenty of the leading anti-virus products to determine if any of those products would detect their malware as potentially unwanted. Furthermore, they programmed their malware to actively delete traces of the malware's presence from the corporate victims' networks."
The methods used by Gonzalez and his team weren't all that sophisticated, either; the long and short of it is that they were able to exploit end users that didn't know how poor their security was, according to security experts .%20
" a hacker and demonstrates that those corporate victims will actively defend their systems," said Ralph J. Marra Jr., acting U.S. attorney, in the statement released with the indictment.

Dedication to Gaza: Invincible - "Emperor's Clothes" (Prod. by Beatnick & K-Salaam)
Okay, so critically acclaimed lyricist Invincible (wassup Detroit) wrote a pretty bold song in response to the recent siege of Gaza.
Click on the image below to watch the video:
Click on the link below to download to the song:
Calling for a straight up boycott and drawing on similarities to the divestment of South Africa which ultimately ended apartheid; Invincible is an MC of Jewish Israeli decent who represents a majority of people around the globe (Jewish, Muslim, Christian, etc...) who do NOT support the Israeli government and their actions against the Palestinian people.
Hear her explanation of the song in her own words:
"So I wrote lyrics to K-Salaam and Beatnick’s beat that exposes the similarity between the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and the Native American genocide, and the connection between the struggle for justice in Palestine and the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. Since writing the song, I've learned about even more connections–that the Israeli military has trained U.S. police forces such as the Atlanta Police Department and the Border Patrol. By boycotting Israel, we are also boycotting repressive police tactics in our cities and on our borders."
The following is a quote from Nelson Mandela:
“Apartheid is a crime against humanity. Israel has deprived millions of Palestinians of their liberty and property. It has perpetuated a system of gross racial discrimination and inequality. It has systematically incarcerated and tortured thousands of Palestinians, contrary to the rules of international law. It has, in particular, waged a war against a civilian population, in particular children.
The responses made by South Africa to human rights abuses emanating from the removal policies and apartheid policies respectively, shed light on what Israeli society must necessarily go through before one can speak of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East and an end to its apartheid policies.” - Nelson Mandela
