Tampa, FL Progressive Metal Band AKELDAMA Signs with Rogue Records America

The Rogue Records America roster just keeps growing with amazing talent! Tampa, FL six-piece progressive metal band AKELDAMA has signed a two-record distribution deal with Rogue Records America.

AKELDAMA announces their relationship with Rogue Records America by releasing their re-mastered and remixed three-song EP, simply titled Akeldama for free to anyone who wants it. The band has also become involved with PROJECT ROGUE-TITANS with the recent recruitment of both singers Andrew Zink and Connor Reibling.

“These guys just really shook my foundation when I heard them,” said Rogue Records America owner Dean Martinetti. “The landscapes in their music is layered thick and never at any moment loses its momentum or pacing. It’s really just well done. So, we had to ask them if they’d be a part of the family…and thankfully, they said yes.”

AKELDAMA released their first full-length record, entitled Everything Beautiful on September 6, 2013. The release was met with overwhelming support from the progressive metal community and was named a "top release of 2013" by both GotDjent.com and MindEqualsBlown.com. The release was noted for its crushing grooves, lush and ambient atmosphere as well as its elite cast of guest contributors, distinguished artists Ashe O'hara (Tesseract), Keshav Dhar (Skyharbor) and Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry).

AKELDAMA is a progressive metal band founded by Andrew Zink of Tampa, FL.
AKELDAMA began in 2010 as a studio project between Andrew Zink and a select group of musicians in the Greater Tampa Bay area. Through the final months of 2010 and into 2011, Zink and his bandmates would compose a handful of tracks ending with the release of a self-titled, three song demo released on March 28, 2011. Los Angeles, CA ~ Today is a double release day for Cali native Jay Blaze as he unleashes both his brand new EP, "Haterz Stay Back" on iTunes as well as the visual to "Puff Daddy", the EP's second track. Funny thing about that "Puff Daddy" song. Being a Los Angeles resident with the priviledge of being all up in the mix has its benefits. Jay was able not only to get the song to Puff's team, but to get feedback from the man himself. Word is, he digs it and looks forward to seeing the video, which debuts on HipHopDX today. Oddly, he changed his name back to Puff Daddy shortly thereafter.............coincidence? Perhaps, but a great look for Jay Blaze regardless.

Chiptle Sues Frank Ocean

Chipotle Mexican Grill is serving Frank Ocean with a lawsuit after the “channel ORANGE” artist backed out of an ad campaign he agreed to do for the chain. The suit filed in LA county states that Ocean signed on to do a $425,000 deal with Chipotle in which Ocean would sing a remake of “Pure Imagination” for an animated ad, but the artist backed out after the company refused to remove their logo from the end of the ad. That artist’s team e-mailed the chain stating that Ocean was promised the final say over the recording and all promotional materials and accused the burrito bigwigs of being in breach of contract. Chipotle is now suing for the $212,500 advance paid to Ocean. We’re no entertainment attorneys, but at the end of the day Frank Ocean or not, Chipotle more than likely has a goal of advertising their product, so it’s no big surprise that they might want their logo on the tail end of their ad. We’re all for artistic freedom, but we aren’t exactly sure how much Ocean wants the ad to be about him and not burrito bowls. Well the courts may have to make some adjustments to Ocean’s official name in the documents. In an unrelated story, TMZ reports that Ocean filed documents to legally change his birth name to his stage name. Ocean, whose real name is Christopher Edwin Breaux, has to post his intentions in four separate newspapers once a week for four weeks in a row. This ensures that just in case he’s using the name to commit fraud, victims have the opportunity to come forward in court. Styling and Stomping The Runways with Momma Dee & Love & Hip Hop ATL

It’s 6p.m. Vans are lined up and unloading the cameras for VH1’s hit TV Reality series, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. Luckily, there is a place to park the car, which is filled to the brim with clothes, in all the pandemonium. Just based from all the cars in the parking lot, it was obvious that this was going to be one of those nights.

Models are running frantic. Some don’t have their make-up done, while others are unsure of what they are going to wear for tonight’s show. There is an aura in the air that something big is going down tonight, and the excitement in filling the air.

Instantly, I fall into my groove of things. Accessories, shoes, and bags are being thrown in every which direction. Models are coming at me for everything from having their clothes pinned to their thin frames to how they should have hair look for the first scene of the show. Designers are asking me a million and one questions.  I see my friend Industry Hairstylist Marisa Shockly-Wilson working her fingers off. (LoL), (Risa styled Momma Dee's hair the day before and she killed it).   Coordinators are asking for call times and line ups. Then, all of a sudden, the cameras come on when the cast of Love and Hip Hop arrive, and its show time. It’s time to Stomp The Runway!

Momma Dee, who is the coolest reality star that I’ve met in this styling game, shows up in a skin tight black cocktail dress with animal printed shoes and bag. Shay, who we all were there to witness be crowned the “new princess of the south”, appears, in a skin tight red number that put you in the mind of Jessica rabbit. With her hair swept sideways into a blond bombshell bun, she looked simply stunning. Lil Scrappy, who is far from little, also shows up with a coolness that makes everybody’s head turn. It was a night of royalty, and yes, Momma Dee is serious when she says that she is the Queen, and her children are the prince and princesses.

Backstage, the madness never stops. It almost looks like a circus. But from the sounds being heard out front of cheers and applause, you knew that the audience was very entertained. The show went off with a hitch, and the atmosphere of the venue was fabulous.

The show is finally over, and the tension has finally died down. Pictures are being taken with the models and the cast. The night was a huge success, and the charity fashion show where Shay Johnson was crowned as Lil Scrappy’s princess, all in the name of fundraising for the Higher Family Achievement Association and Mrs. Georgia US Nancy Klausner, it was a night to never be forgotten.  Special thanks to Atlanta Media Partners, Butterfly Cosmetics, MNS Media, Runwayink Atlanta, Unique Tulips and A-List Affair and photographer.

  On Da Radar: With Rhone Records artist A. Rhone a young inspired MC started rapping since the age of 4 years of age in Pittsburgh, PA.
