MASTODON'S NEW ALBUM ONCE MORE 'ROUND THE SUN DEBUTS AT NO. 6 ON BILLBOARD CHART - THEIR HIGHEST U.S. CHART DEBUT EVER!

THE NEW ALBUM IS ALSO TOP 20 AROUND THE WORLD
ABC'S JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE CONFIRMED FOR SEPTEMBER 15TH

- Once More 'Round The Sun, the sixth studio album from Mastodon, has debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. This marks their highest chart debut ever.
In addition, this album released by Reprise Records on June 24th, has gone Top 10 in most European markets and top 20 in most remaining territories. Once More 'Round The Sun has also entered the Top 10 Album Charts in the U.K. as well where it is currently the No. 1 Rock/Metal album across the nation; yet another milestone for Mastodon. Fans and critics agree, this is the best Mastodon album yet:
"The mercurial metal heads have improved on the lean hard-rock pummel of 2011's The Hunter with lattices of ornate riffs and primal vocals... the band sounds best when taking risks." - Rolling Stone
"Album after album, Mastodon set the pace for modern heavy metal. Their brand of aggression is brainy, technically dazzling and slightly hallucinogenic - metal for people who don't usually listen to metal. At the same time, the band is balls-out creative. 'Elegant' isn't a term usually associated with neck-tatted, acid-eating heshers but check out Bill Kelliher's guitar riff verses Brent Hinds' guitar solo versus Brann Dailor's double-time drums. The union is perfectly effortless -and freight-train powerful." - Spin.Com
"The Atlanta thrashers continue to walk a fine line between brutal hardcore, bespectacled math rock, and area-ready melody." - Entertainment Weekly / The "MUST LIST"
Once More 'Round The Sun was recorded in Nashville with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Deftones). It is the follow-up to Mastodon's critically acclaimed album The Hunter, which also entered the Billboard Top 200 Album chart in the Top 10 upon release and found its way onto several Year End / Best Of Critics' Lists, including those compiled by Rolling Stone, Spin, Revolver, Decibel and many more.
In addition, the band has been confirmed to appear on the outdoor stage of ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on September 15th, in Hollywood, CA.
Once More 'Round The Sun is available now on CD, standard vinyl and a limited edition Deluxe Package pressed on two 180g black vinyl discs housed in a quadruple gatefold vinyl jacket featuring artwork by Skinner. The special package will also contain four exclusive lithographs derived from the album artwork plus the entire album on CD. Order it here. Twin Atlantic “Heart & Soul” Hits US Radio, NY & LA Shows Announced

Breakthrough band Twin Atlantic are returning to the US, with intimate small club shows at LA’s Troubadour July 21st and New York’s Webster Hall Studio July 24th. The Glasgow 4-piece will be previewing songs off their new Gil Norton & Jacknife Lee-produced album Great Divide, out August 18th via Red Bull Records.
The first single off Great Divide, “Heart & Soul” premiered on Radio 1’s Zane Lowe as the “Hottest Record in the World,” was added to the station’s A-List and debuted at #17 on the UK sales chart. The track is currently climbing the US radio charts: it was Most Added at Alternative last week, with over a dozen new stations adding it to their full time playlist including SiriusXM Alt Nation, The Point in St Louis, WBUZ/Nashville, WLKK/Buffalo, and many more. “Heart & Soul” has won acclaim in NME, Rock Sound, The Sun, The Mirror and more, and USA Today called it “as catchy as any boy band you'll hear all year, but built with old-fashioned rock-guitar hooks. And a Scottish brogue.” Watch the video for the track here
In the three years and countless shows since the release of their acclaimed debut album Free, Twin Atlantic has become known as one of the UK’s most exciting live bands. They spent the spring travelling Europe with 30 Seconds to Mars, scored a primetime slot on the John Peel stage at Glastonbury last weekend and are currently playing stadiums in the UK with Kings of Leon. Reading & Leeds confirmed for later this summer.
Twin Atlantic US Shows:
July 21 – Los Angeles, CA – Troubadour
July 24 – New York, NY – Webster Hall Studio

SELF DEFENSE CLAIMED IN SHOOTING OF RAPPER DOLLA

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS IS REPORTING:

Prosecutors charged Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, with murder and a pair of assault charges in connection with Monday's shooting in a valet area at an upscale mall. Berry made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon and his bail was raised to $5 million. He postponed entering a plea until a Friday court hearing. Berry's attorney, Howard R. Price, said his client was acting in self-defense when he killed Dolla, 21, and fired at two other people. Price said Berry feared for his life after he and Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, had an altercation at an Atlanta nightclub earlier this month. Dolla, an Atlanta-based rapper and a protege of Akon, recently released two singles with his mentor: "Like This" and "She So Fine." Price said it was a coincidence that the two men ended up in the same city (Los Angeles), the same restaurant (P.F. Chang's China Bistro) on the same day and at the same time. He said Burton, who was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after the killing with a loaded 9mm handgun and a plane ticket, was trying to leave the city because he feared for his safety. Price accused Burton and his entourage of being affiliated with the Crips gang and said that is one of the reasons Berry feared for his life. He said Berry told him that Burton threatened him in the restroom and followed him to the valet area and that's why he opened fire. Price said Berry did not file a police report after the altercation in Atlanta earlier this because "he knew who he was dealing with." Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, said the office would not comment on the evidence, but that details presented by Los Angeles police detectives were sufficient to support the murder and assault charges "As far as arguing the merits of the case, we prefer to do that in the courtroom and not on the sidewalk," Gibbons said. Police have not discussed a motive for the killing.
