There has been
alot going on in the world of
Facebook.
Facebook has announced that it has redesigned itself to be more like Twitter. Since the
Facebook lost the bid to purchase Twitter it has decided to
redesign itself. some of the changes allow users to share their info with an
unlimited number of friends. These updates can "be brief messages" according to
Facebook.
Facebook has now become direct competition with Twitter. Analyst Caroline
Dangson stated "By adding this now, though,
Facebook is taking Twitter on directly. They realize if they have these real-time streams, then people will spend more time on
Facebook. If people can do it all on
Facebook, they just might decide to do so. Suddenly, they don't have to go to Twitter." In January
Facebook reached its 150 million active user mark.
Twitter has announced that it will be providing advertising on its sites. A new platform will allow text ads to be embedded within twitter posts. These posts will only appear on the most popular tweets. Adjix founder Joe Moreno stated that "This new ad format will be a great way for Twitter users to earn additional revenue, and its unobtrusive format won't annoy recipients, like some other Twitter ad programmes."
