Head of Drug Cartel On Forbes Billionaire List

Joaqin Guzman is the head of the Sinaloa cartel, (named after the Mexican state in which it is based) and is worth an estimated $1 billion. He escaped from a Mexican jail in a laundry truck back in 2001. It is reported that he charmed and bribed the entire prison staff. He is still a wanted man however the Mexican Army can not touch him. During his wedding in 2007 to his 18 yr old bride he had the wedding heavily guarded to the point that the army decided not to attempt to seize him. It has been estimated that last year Mexican and Colombian traffickers made between $18billion to $39billion. Colombia's Pablo Escobar was ranked the 7th richest man in the world, with $25billion to his name in 1989.
