While most up-and-comers attempt to pull off their "one big hit" by matching it with a dance move, Novakane represents for the true hip-hop fans who still respect raw expression without the games and gimmicks. Ferocious as a Chicago wind, Nokavane’s approach is numbing to the senses. And he intends to keep it that way.

A native of the city’s West side, Novakane started rapping at age 16. Mainly inspired by NWA and Too Short, he would visualize their tales of gangsta life while witnessing it first-hand for himself everyday. After graduating from high school, he decided to take music seriously and moved to Memphis where his godmother opened a recording studio.

Groomed by the fast pace environment of Chi-Town’s most notorious streets, Novakane would be automatically equipped for survival in the music industry. But the streets wouldn’t let up. In 2001, Novakane was sent to prison for a six year sentence. While incarcerated, he continued to write and sharpen his skills by rhyming without beats. After his release in 2006, Novakane regained focus; determined to dish out an official dose of his lyrical venom to the world.

One listen to Novakane's first DJBooth.net contribution, Love Hate ft. R.L., a bittersweet tale of love-gone-wrong, with its Tupac-esque delivery, will endear real Hip-Hop audiences to Novakane immediately. Instead of taking the standard female diss route, Novakane let's you inside his pain at not being able to let go of his now-vindictive Ex. Make no mistake though, Novakane is no Plies and this is no pro-forma 'song for the ladies.'

In his two years as a free man, Novakane has kept his focus on making music; producing anthems such as last year's hit, Shawty Said ft. Tre'V and Yo Gotti, which spent 11 weeks on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Chart. The video received almost 1 million YouTube views. After 6 years on lock, the man has got alot to say.

Ever in the studio, and anticipating the 2nd Quarter drop of his debut album, The 1st 48, Novakane plans to stay in the hearts and minds of the fans by dropping a constant flow of mixtapes; four to be exact. On deck are mixtapes with The Empire, the notorious Bigga Rankin, DJ Infamous and the much anticipated Chief Rocka-hosted, The Lethal Injection.
